Shall we gin at the AO23

Freya Herring | Presented by Gordon’s Gin

The warmer weather is upon us, which means so too is Australian Open season. Gin and tonic – clean, zesty, sweet and bracingly bitter, will be your courtside companion, and with a whole range of tennis-hungry folk about to land on these fair shores, they’re going to need a welcome drink. Here’s how to have the best of times at the AO this year, Gordon’s gin in hand. It is, quite simply, the perfect serve.

On The Ground

Lucky enough to attend the Australian Open in 2023? Here’s where you’ll find Gordon’s Gin.

Gordon’s Gin Bar

AO Tennis Club

Gordon’s Gin Bar at the AO Tennis Club is the place to be during the slam. Tennis fans can hit the court for a social game or kick back to take in the live action on the screens. Ample shade and seating, the perfect zone to enjoy a delicious Gordon’s Tropical Passionfruit and Soda.

Gordon’s Gin Bar

Showcourt 3

Game. Set. Match. Sip. Head to Showcourt 3 to try your perfect serve of Gordon’s Gin. Pick your favourite flavour from the Gordon’s Gin and Soda range; zesty Sicilian Lemon, juicy Mediterranean Orange, new Tropical Passionfruit or the crowd favourite – Pink and Soda.

Gordon’s Gin Bar

Garden Square

There’s a gin for everyone at Gordon’s Garden Square bar. Located in the heart of the action the Gordon’s Gin Bar has you covered whilst you kick back and relax. Not drinking? Try Gordon’s 0.0%, an alcohol-free alternative to the classic G&T.

Gordon’s Gin Bar

GRAND SLAM OVAL

Here, you’ll find yourself immersed within a tropical oasis, while still staying close to the live action on the big screen. Split over two levels, this vibrant bar will give you the chance to taste Gordon’s Tropical Passionfruit Gin and Soda, and park up at a cabana or around the garden.

How do you gin?

Gordon’s London Dry makes an impeccable G&T – heavy on the juniper and as crisp as a jump in the sea. But sometimes you want to branch out, and we’re here for that too. Gordon’s has a whole range of gins to suit even the most curious of palates.

The zesty hit of their Mediterranean Orange gin means you don’t even need to add a slice of citrus to your G&T if you don’t have any to hand, with generous hints of sweet orange and citrus peel. Their new Tropical Passionfruit is a celebration of one of Australia’s most beloved fruits, sun-ripened to juicy effect. Add tonic and half a passionfruit to make your drink feel fancy – it’s summer in a glass.

Don’t feel like drinking alcohol? Have just as much fun by sampling the Alcohol-Free gin – ideal for those just wanting to keep it low-key. You won’t believe there’s no liquor in it; it’s that tasty. But, we hear you, tennis usually screams out for one fruit and one fruit only, and that’s strawberries.

If berries are your vibe, then you’re going to need to have some Gordon’s Premium Pink in your gantry. It’s infused with strawberries, raspberries and tangy redcurrants. There are no nasties and no fakery; just good times. Pour over some tonic and you’re done most serves take years to master; this one takes seconds.

AROUND THE GROUNDS

These are the venues where you can enjoy the perfect serve of Gordon’s gin.

The Elephant & Wheelbarrow

The Elephant & Wheelbarrow

The Posty

The Posty

MELBOURNE

Park up at The Posty in Cremorne, which will serve all five of Gordon’s featured cocktails during AO23 season. Our pick is the Batman Bramble – fruity, sweet, fresh, and the perfect serve to watch the action going down at Rod Laver Arena on screen.

London Tavern Hotel

London Tavern Hotel

RICHMOND

Given London was the birthplace of Gordon’s London Dry Gin, what better way to enjoy it than in Melbourne’s own Little London – the London Tavern Hotel in Richmond? Sit out in the fresh air in their generously-sized beer garden with a classic Batman Bramble in tow. It’s a sports bar, but extra.

The Swan Hotel

The Swan Hotel

RICHMOND

Here at one of Richmond’s most well-known pubs, pop in for a parma and a hit of sport, stay for the rollicking atmosphere. They’re doing Gordon’s Mediterranean Orange and Pimm’s Tan Tan Tan cocktails for the Australian Open, and you’d be a fool to miss that serve.

The Precinct Hotel

The Precinct Hotel

CREMORNE

The Australian Open, like all sport, is the vibe at this famed Cremorne pub. Settle in to Aussie favourites like salt and pepper calamari, burgers and fish and chips or head up to Asia with offerings like Szechuan chips, prawn dumplings and Hong Kong speciality, Singapore noodles. Then grab your cocktail (we suggest the gingery – and delightfully booze-free – Centre Court Storm) and watch the tennis.

The Albert Park Hotel

The Albert Park Hotel

MELBOURNE

Established in 1883, The Albert Park Hotel is not what you might expect from your local taphouse. The restaurant, Happy Valley, celebrates Chinese cuisine with thoughtfully-sourced produce at its heart. Dumplings, Peking duck pancakes, heaving bowls of noodles – you name it, they’ve got it, with banquet menus on offer if choosing feels like too much work. Go a clean Love All cocktail (Gordon’s Passionfruit Gin, elderflower, lime, mint – done) on the side and head off to the tennis fully-fed and with a smile on your face.
